The Process. There are five steps we take to create your custom assessment software over a four to six week period:
- Onsite Job Analysis. This mini-version of a complete job analysis occurs at your location. Our team of experts in test design and software development will work with your Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to assemble a team of incumbents, supervisors and trainers and meet with them to determine the critical knowledge, skills, abilities and duties necessary to success in the position (as they pertain to your software.) This process will take one to two days, on site.
- Test Content Creation. Following the job analysis phase, the consultant will work with a select few of your SMEs to create a specific number of test items. The SMEs and the consultant will work together to document all of the correct paths available to properly complete each item. This process will take one to two days, on site.
- Software Capture. Our programmer will stay on site for several days working to capture all necessary aspects of your software application. Menus, toolbars, iconbars, dialog boxes and data fields will all be captured in a way that will allow for these aspects to be utilized in your own test. This process will take several days, on site.
- Test Creation. Our staff will reassemble to create your custom assessment and will deliver a master CD to your organization for testing and, finally, implementation. This software is yours to implement on as many sites or seats as you desire, throughout your organization.
- Test Validation. A Validation Wizard will be incorporated into your software that will allow you to content validate your assessment using the test results of as few as seven to ten of your SMEs. This Validation Wizard enables you to set a job-related cutoff score allowing you to pass or fail each of your trainees at a defensible point.
The Requirements. The requirements are minimal because our system is so flexible.
- Windows Operating System. Your software must be running on or accessed from a PC running MS Windows O/S. Our preferred method would be to have your IT staff allow our onsite crew to access your network through our own laptop computers. In this way, we do not need to install our authoring software on your machines (which would incur additional cost.)
- Access to Your Software. We must be able to access the application upon which your custom assessment will be based. If your software contains confidential data, your team will be responsible to create a set of non-confidential sample data that may be reported in the test screens.
- A Cooperative Team. The job analysis and test content creation is a collaborative process. The more willing your team-members are, the faster this process can be completed and the better quality assessment will result.
The Cost. A typical 25-item, self-administering, self-scoring assessment with one parallel form (second test version) and the validation wizard will cost approximately $40K. In the end, you will have a multi-seat network version of this test for distribution to as many seats and at as many sites as you wish, within your organization. Additional test items, test forms, or consulting work are available per quote.
